Privacy policy

With Doodles is an Android app for sharing visual notes with one person. This policy covers the Android beta and this public website.

Data With Doodles processes

With Doodles stores a Firebase account identifier, a verified email address when you sign in with Google or email, the display name you enter, your pairing status, invite-code records, visual notes you send, delivery and read timestamps, and a Firebase Cloud Messaging token when notifications are available. Photos selected with Android's Photo Picker are flattened into the visual note before upload. Invite QR codes are generated on your device. QR scanning uses Google Code Scanner without granting With Doodles camera permission. The app does not request your contacts, precise location, camera, microphone, or advertising identifier.

How the data is used

The data is used only to create a private two-person space, deliver and display notes, maintain shared history and optional receipts, update the Android widget and live wallpaper, and send private notifications when that service is enabled. Either member can turn receipts off for a space; the app then stops adding new delivery and read timestamps. With Doodles does not sell personal data and does not use it for advertising.

Sharing and service providers

Your display name, visual notes, send times, and delivery/read status are visible to the person who joins your private space. Google Identity and Firebase process sign-in, Cloud Storage images, Firestore metadata, and notification delivery on With Doodles' behalf. Data is not shared with unrelated third parties unless required by law or needed to protect the service.

Storage and security

Production Firestore metadata is stored in Google's nam5 United States multi-region. Doodle images are stored in Firebase Cloud Storage. Other Firebase services may process data in other locations under Google's terms. Widget, wallpaper, and history copies are stored in the app's private internal storage on each device. Android cloud backup and device-to-device transfer are disabled for With Doodles data. Access to each shared space is enforced with authenticated, member-only Firestore and Storage rules.

With Doodles does not provide end-to-end encryption. Your paired person can save screenshots or other copies. Anyone who can see your home or lock screen may see widget or wallpaper content, depending on your privacy settings.

Retention and deletion

The app keeps the latest 30 notes on each device. Cloud notes expire 90 days after they are sent and are then deleted by Firebase. Choosing Leave this space removes the notes you sent, removes you from the space, and clears local widget, wallpaper, and history copies. Choosing Delete account and my doodles also deletes your With Doodles profile and Firebase account. Your partner controls their own recent notes. Copies they saved outside the app cannot be removed by With Doodles.

Used invites are deleted during pairing. Unused invites and their empty spaces are removed after the 24-hour expiry. Guest accounts that are not saved with Google or email are eligible for automatic deletion after 30 days of inactivity, with related app data removed by the cleanup service.

Deletion requires an internet connection. Uninstalling or clearing app data does not itself remove cloud data. Save a guest account with Google or email before reinstalling or changing phones; otherwise it may become inaccessible. Delete your account in the app before uninstalling when possible. Google may retain service logs or backup data for its documented retention periods after a deletion request. See Firebase's privacy and security information for current provider details.

This website

The public website does not use advertising cookies, analytics scripts, or tracking pixels. Fonts and images are served with the site. Google Firebase Hosting processes request information, including IP addresses, to deliver the website and prevent abuse. If you contact support, the information you send is used to respond to your request.

Children

With Doodles is not directed to children under 13. Do not use the app if local law requires parental consent that has not been obtained.
